ImageHandler4Communities In Schools of Chester County, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that is part of the nation’s largest dropout prevention network.  Established in 1995 this organization has been a leading community based organization in Chester County helping students succeed in school and prepare for life.  It has served 1700 students and has had over 750 adults volunteer their time to young people since its inception.

 

During the past 17 years Communities In Schools of Chester County has achieved a 93 percent retention rate for students it serves, with 90 percent being promoted to the next grade.  In January 1998 CIS of Chester County was the first program in the state of South Carolina to become a chartered organization.  Then in April 2003 CIS of Chester County was honored to be the first program in the state of South Carolina to receive its 5-year “reauthorization of chartered status”.
