The mission of Communities In Schools is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

ImageHandler5Communities in Schools of Chester County, Inc. has been serving students and families in Chester County 17 years.

Through a grant from the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation, Communities in Schools is providing services to 3 schools within the School District.  Communities in Schools has been able to provide Site Coordinators in Chester Middle School, Chester High School, and Lewisville Middle School.    They provide an array of services to the entire school’s needs, as well as help students on an individualized basis to remain in school and graduate from high school.

Also presently, Communities in Schools is serving 120 students at Chester Park Complex in the 21st Century After School Program.  The 21st Century program is in its fourth year serving students through a grant funded from the Department of Education.  Students attend this program from 2:30 pm until 5:30 pm Mondays through Thursdays.  The program provides academic assistance, along with enrichment activities such as swimming lessons at the local YMCA, 4-H Clubs and health education provided by Clemson Extension, Physical Education classes, along with D.A.R.E. and R.I.S.E. classes.  A nutritious snack is provided to each student, along with bus transportation.
